Carcinoid Tumours in liver

Health update- I will be going to London Health Services hospital in London, Ontario for a liver embolization- Sept. 13th,2006. My hospital stay will be 6 days.
The long name for this is" Hepatic Arterial Lipiodol Chemoembolization ( HALCE).
The goal of this treatment is to stop the growth of tumours in the liver. It does not cure the cancer. It can be effective in decreasing the tumour size and stopping its growth.
A mixture of radioactive substance(lipoidol) and chemotherapy is injected into a branch of the artery leading to the tumour. One side of the liver is treated each time. I will have the other liver lobe done after 10 weeks.
I went to Huntsville last Thurs. for 3 injections of Sandostatin( my monthly injection is usually 20mg. but I needed 60mg. for this treatment and I will be given more during the proceedure, as it helps to counteract the secretion emitted by the tumours.
It is wonderful what Dr. can do now for the treatment of different kinds of cancers and I thank the Lord that he has given them skill and wisdom and knowledge to help cure us. I also value your prayers and positive thoughts as I know that these are valuable and neccessary for us, to see the wonders of God in and through us during our lives. He has brought us together and we are able to hold each other up at times like this and I am so glad you are my support team and friends , THANKS just doesn't quite express my feelings but please know that I appreciate you all and love you. HUGS! Jackie

Thanks a lot for visiting my blog and taking the time and trouble to comment. How good it is to learn that it is possible to just stumble onto my site - I was beginning to think I was talking to myself!

Am so sorry to read about your own health problems. I know what a worrying time it must be for you and will certainly keep you in my prayers. I have bookmarked your blog, so will hopefully be able to keep up to date with how you are getting on. Good luck!
